DORIS LESSING

Hi readers! Today i´m going to talk about the winner of the Nobel Prize in literature 2007, she was called Doris Lessing. I have chosen this person, because she´s one of the few women who had received Nobel Prizes, and while I was looking for the literature ones, I found it and it looked interesting.

She was born on 22 October 1919, Kermanshah, Persia. She was a British novelist, poet, playwright, librettist biographer and short story writer.
Lessing was awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize in Literature. In awarding the prize, the Swedish Academy described her as "that epicist of the female experience, who with scepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a divided civilisation to scrutiny". Lessing was the eleventh woman and the oldest person ever to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Doris also in 2001 was awarded the David Cohen Prize for a lifetime's achievement in British literature. In 2008, The Times ranked her fifth on a list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945".

Her first novel, The Grass Is Singing, was published in 1950. Her breakthrough work, The Golden Notebook, was written in 1962. By the time of her death, more than 50 of her novels had been published.

In 1982, Lessing tried to publish two novels under a pseudonym, Jane Somers, to show the difficulty new authors faced in trying to have their works in print. The novels were declined by Lessing's UK publisher, but later were
accepted by another English publisher, Michael Joseph. The Diary of a Good Neighbour was published in Britain and the US in 1983, and If the Old Could in both countries in 1984, both as written by Jane Somers. In 1984, both novels were re-published in both countries, this time under one cover, with the title The Diaries of Jane Somers: The Diary of a Good Neighbour and If the Old Could, listing Doris Lessing as author.

Here you have a video showing the moment when gave the prize to Doris. When reporters in 2007 told Ms. Lessing that she had won the Nobel Prize for literature, she said, “I couldn’t care less.”

SOCIAL WEBSITES

Hi everybody, in this second article i´m going to talk about the social websites. I´ll give my opinion of the webs, I´ll tell you some advantages and disadvantages these websites have, how can we misinterpret friends, some suggestions I will do to the owners an also I´m going to talk about the privacy you have in these webs.

To begin I have to say that the websites have very good advantages, you can return to have friendships that were lost identifying them in a social web. You also can meet new people, and you can communicate with people who is living in another country or is from another country. Although, they also have disadvantages, for instance that you can´t  know who is behind the screen, maybe he/she is a new friend for you, but it can be a person with bad intentions. As well, you can´t have all the control of our information, so it could be someone who take it or retouch it and publish it in another side. You show all your own life and it prejudice you in your future.

In the second place I´m going to compare, what really is a friend, we call it traditional friend, and what is a friend of a website.

A traditional friend knows what you know, what you really are, with your good things, also your bad things, what you like and what you dislike. It is supposed that with a traditional friend you have more contact or you trust in him or her, also a traditional friend it supposed that he/she do not speak bad of you, or criticize you, And if he/she do it normally they don´t have a website to do it, or they do it face to face. But, a friend in a social web can be a person who you only speak with him or her, you have never seen him/her or even you cannot tell nothing of confidence to that supposed friend. That friend maybe speaks ill of you, but you cannot realize it. He/ she perhaps only want information of you to plan something, or to menace you.

I have to mentions that in somo websites you can guarantee your privacy, In some social webs it is the option to have the account private, so only the people you accept can see the things you publish. Also, normally, the information you have to introduce is not so private or personal, they will be name, birthdate, etc.

To finish, the suggestions I would ask to be more secure with the photos or anything you can take out of the websites. As well, I would ask them to warn people what can happen if they use inadequately the social webs.
But in general, I´m very happy with the websites.
